Featuring historical events such as the Bay of Pigs incident and Kennedy's assassination, Black Ops delivers a roller coaster single-player campaign roughly a third longer than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; a lesson learned after gamers voiced their displeasure last time around.

Shifting the action to the 1960s and the cold war sends special ops veteran Alex Mason into furious combat with communist hordes in Russia, Cuba and Vietnam – the game opening in an aggressive interrogation, leading to playable flashbacks from the titular covert missions.

COD relies on relentless pace, pin-sharp graphics and blisteringly fast frame-rates to offer the spectacular but linear thrill-ride of the arcade game, which is its forte. Yet Black Ops brings no real innovation to the genre.

Unsurprisingly, real longevity is online with new kill streak bonuses, including napalm strikes, controllable helicopters and an exploding remote-controlled car. Black Ops is still best in class by some distance but let's hope there will be a little tactical tweaking away from the linear and claustrophobic single-player come Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty Black Ops Black Friday 2010 deals & sales: It's top hit. When Call of Duty: Black Ops was unveiled then it was a huge hit with many critics giving it a raving review. The game landed in the industry with a bang. Before its launch the maker of the game unleashed a marketing campaign last week. The latest installment of the Call of Duty series has been a huge hit.

It shows how the Cold War operations were handled by super powers of the day. The game opens in an aggressive way, showing interrogation.

Besides, it features historical events taking place in the territory of the enemy. It is a third longer than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The Call of Duty franchise has turned out some of gaming's biggest releases for nearly a decade, and with today's release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, developer Trey arch is looking to push the envelope further to create an unrivaled multi-player experience.

The major focus of Black Ops' multi-player system is customization. Starting with the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007, the Call of Duty series became known for letting users tailor their online soldier to suit their interests.

Modern Warfare helped introduce the concept of perks and classes to players. You could add different physical perks, such as extra running distance and more health, and weapon perks including extra bullet damage or steady aim.

This separated the game from the pack, as most previous online shooters gave everyone the same attributes and weapons.

The two subsequent Call of Duty titles, World at War and Modern Warfare 2, expanded on the perks and bonuses that players could earn, adding kill streak bonuses for getting consecutive kills without dying.

Modern Warfare 2's ultimate kill streak, if you were skilled enough to pull off an amazing 25 kills in a row, was a nuclear bomb that could be called in to destroy the entire level, ending the match! Black Ops is adding more rewards to the kill streak menu, notably a remote controlled car.

Black Ops will also let you physically customize your character and gun. Black Ops is introducing a cash system to the franchise. This cash can also be gambled in the all new "Wager Match", which pays out big bucks to the winning player.

Speaking of which, Trey arch announced four match types new to the series. Next, "Gun Game" starts each player on the bottom of the totem pole of weapons.

Each time you get a kill, you are automatically switched to the next highest ranking weapon. "Sharp Shooter" randomly assigns each player the same weapon. Lastly, "Sticks and Stones" gives you cash upon getting kills, but if another player kills you with a tomahawk, it's bankrupt city.

Obviously, the ones with the biggest risks will pay the biggest rewards. Black Ops' theater will let you record matches, replay clips, and share highlights online with your friends.
