It only took one episode of "Glee" for Darren Criss to become an instant fan favorite and potential full-time castmember, but he finally got to live his teenage dream Monday night at the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" red-carpet premiere in New York. Before he ever was involved in "Glee," Criss had achieved viral fame for the YouTube video he put together with his friends, "A Very Potter Musical." The fan musical has garnered more than 3 million views since it was posted in 2009 and is one of the more beloved "Potter" parodies.
"A lot of people who know me as Harry, it's kind of weird, because I'm not Harry Potter," Criss told MTV News.
The premiere was the first time Criss had been in the presence of the actual Harry Potter, Dan Radcliffe. "For the sheer novelty of it, for the fans who are 'Glee' fans and 'Harry Potter' fans," Criss said, agreeing to the idea. There's been some terrible mistake."
Well, it seems that the Glee producers are also big fans of Criss: they’ve just promoted the 23-year-old actor to series regular, reports AfterElton.com. "Darren has become such a sensation in one week, which I love,” Glee creator Ryan Murphy said. "I think there's a hunger for him and a positive relationship role model. Worry, not, Kurt fans – he definitely will be getting a boyfriend this season; it’s just not certain it will be Blaine. Swoon!
"Glee's" Kurt Hummell could be a very busy boy this fall.
Actor Darren Criss, who appeared on the short-lived "Eastwick," is the lastest fresh face to be cast on "Glee," FOX confirms to Zap2it. He'll play a gay student who sings with a rival glee club. The character's description naturally means he could be a contender for Kurt's (Chris Colfer) love interest this season. We wonder if Criss would be representing a private school. We're kind of psyched to see Criss in action. So far, the guest stars this season have been stellar, and we're liking his curly, curly hair.
